A vernal hair accessory

The spring is coming, so you can finally take off your winter clothes and hide them deep in your wardrobe for six months!  But your hair needs special care after winter... It was a very rough time for it. But today I can show you how you can give it more life. It won’t be about any hair conditioners or volume shampoos, but… a hair accessory.

This idea was inspired by the tutorials from a Polish book “Crochet ABC” by Helena GawroĊ„ska. It requires the basic knowledge in crocheting. But for beginners there are some links below, where you can find some very comprehensible tutorials for basic stitches.

difficulty: easy
estimated time:  15 minutes

You need:
  • spring color yarn
  • a small hairclip without any decorations
  • a crochet hook

6.32 €

*its cost doesn’t calculate like this because you’ll use just some of it, the rest can be used in the future tutorials, so the cost is in fact much lower

Tutorial steps:

1. Begin with 6 chain stitches and close them in a circle. Then add *5 more chain stitches* and work one double crochet into the centre of the circle. Work two chain stitches and then work one double crochet into the centre and repeat it six times more. At the end of the loop work 2 chain stitches and one slip stitch in the third chain stitch marked with **.

2. Into each slot you made in step 1, work:  1 single crochet, 1 double, 1 treble, 1 double, 1 single.

3. Work 4 chain stitches and then, work 1 single crochet in the treble crochet from step 2, going in the opposite direction. Repeat till the end of the loop.

4. Into each slot from step 3, work: 1 single, 2 double, 3 treble, 2 double, 1 single crochet.

 5. Bind off at the end of the loop.

 6. Take the hairclip and insert it in one of the double crochets from step 1.

It’s ready to wear!
